A day-long festival of brass, featuring the cream of English brass bands. Feature sets by Black Dyke, Brighouse and Rastrick, Carlton Main Frickley, Fairey and Wingates bands, along with a very special set by The James Shepherd Versatile Brass Legacy Band and a stunning solo recital from Cory Principal Cornet Tom Hutchinson.
Each band in its programme, will play a contest work historically and famously linked to the band. Black Dyke play the mouthwatering “Cloudcatcher Fells” John McCabe’s masterful work, Brighouse give us “Dances and Arias” by Edward Gregson, Carlton main opt for Eric Ball’s classic “Sunset Rhapsody”, Fairey will delight us with “La Carnavale Romaine” and Wingates, who open the Festival will reprise their 1975 British open triumph with a rare performance of Fireworks, Elgar Howarth’s seminal work.
The JSVB Legacy band give us a big band set of stunning new arrangements and Tom Hutchinson will sparkle with a very special solo recital.
