Mental Health Project

Community Mental Health Project – sponsored by the Co-op

Wingates Band have received a community grant from the CO-OP to run a series of music therapy workshops to groups of people who suffer with PTSD.  The scope of this project has been extended to include community group members who suffer from this condition, the Armed Forces, Police Service, Ambulance Service and other groups of military personnel who are struggling with this dreadful illness.

The date for the workshops is 30th March at The Bridge Church, Bolton from 1 – 5pm. Refreshments will be provided

Activities will be run throughout the day and will cover basic music techniques, how to read  music and lastly having some practice sessions on a brass instrument of your choosing!

The sessions are fun, light-hearted and very interactive.  It’s all about having a go, not about ability with the emphasis being placed on enjoyment allowing the participant to break free of any worries or strains caused by this horrid condition.

The sessions will be managed by our professional players, some of whom teach music themselves.

The project will end with a celebratory concert at the Bridge Church – 6pm – 8pm on the 31st March
