I started playing the cornet at the age of 8 and after 2 years of playing I was persuaded by my dad to join the local youth band where I stayed for a short spell before moving to wire youth brass band where I sat principal cornet for 3 years. In 2009 at the age of 13 I became a student at the Junior Royal Northern College of music where I started trumpet lessons with Tracey Redfern and for the last 3 years of my time there I was lucky enough to be given the principal cornet seat which was a great opportunity to have. In 2009 I also joined Rainford band where over the 5 years I was there worked my way through the cornet ranks from 3rd cornet to 3rd man down. I am currently a student at the Royal Northern College of Music where I am studying trumpet under Tracey Redfern. I was very pleased when Paul asked me to join the band on Flugel as I have always enjoyed playing it but never had the opportunity to play it in a brass band before; I am looking forward to improving my skills and to many successes with the band.
