The band would like to reflect on what a successful and memorable year they have had.
After 2016 brought qualification to The National Finals of Great Britain, 2017 brought the return to the British Open; a competition the band hadn’t attended for 18 years.
Unfortunately 2017 also saw Wingates nearly close its doors due to financial issues, but with a hard working management team and support from the people of Westhoughton, we now find ourselves with a brighter future. Thanks to everyone who has joined our Supporters Club.
2017 also saw the launch of Cantatio music publishers, with music arranged from our Solo Trombone and composer in residence Adam Taylor. We hope 2018 brings this new venture great success.
Last but certainly not least, 2018 marks the 50th year that Andrew MacDonald our principal cornet has contributed to the Brass Banding world! We look forward to celebrating both Andy’s and Adam’s success throughout 2018 in an up and coming project.
The band would like to take this time to say a huge thank you to our musical director Paul Andrews. If it wasn’t for his unflinching diligence and drive the band wouldn’t have achieved the success it has to date.
